Privacy Policy

The Check does not require an account, a password, or a login. Here is everything that ends up in our records.

What you tell us while taking the Check

• Your first name, as you type it on the welcome screen. If you leave it blank, we use a friendly placeholder so your results still read naturally.
• Your email address, which you enter before seeing your Clarity Score.
• Your 1–5 rating for each of the twelve statements across Why Clarity, Audience Clarity, and Business Direction.
• Your answer to the single question about your most immediate need right now.

What we work out from your answers

• Your total score out of 60, your section scores, and your tier.
• Which of the three sections is your weakest area.
• The date your response was recorded.

If you buy the Full Clarity Report

• Whether your response is marked paid.
• A payment reference from our payment processor, and the date and time of the payment.

What we do not collect

• Your full card number, security code, or bank details. Those go directly to our payment processor, Stripe, and never pass through our own systems.
• Advertising identifiers, cross-site tracking pixels, or social media login information.
• Anything you type into a field that does not exist. The Check asks for the items listed above and nothing more.

Collected automatically for security

Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (for example browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps) so we can keep the site working and spot abuse. These logs are not used to build a profile about you.

• To show you your results immediately after the Check.
• To send you the follow-up we promised — your personalized next steps, and, if you paid, your Full Clarity Report.
• To send you occasional marketing emails from Miss Phyllis with ideas for building on your clarity. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
• To answer a support request if you write to us.
• To keep simple internal counts: how many people completed the Check each day and week, how many went on to buy the report, and how completions break down by tier and by stated need. These numbers are kept as totals, not as a list tied to your name or email.
• To protect the service, prevent abuse, and meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We share only what each provider needs to do its job, and only for that job.

• Stripe — processes the $12 one-time payment for the Full Clarity Report.
• Our hosting and database provider — stores your response so your results and report can be retrieved.
• MailerLite — our email delivery provider, which sends your results and our occasional marketing emails. You can unsubscribe anytime using the link in any email.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

The public Check itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Your answers stay in your browser for the length of your visit so you can move between screens without losing them.

The private owner’s dashboard at /admin uses a single sign-in session cookie so the owner does not have to retype a password on every page. That session ends after thirty minutes of inactivity. It is not used to recognize visitors or to track them across other sites.

We keep a response for as long as needed to send you your results and follow-up, to support you if you write to us, and to keep accurate business and tax records. When you ask us to delete your response, we delete it, except for anything we are required by law to retain or any anonymized count that can no longer be traced back to you.

• See it — ask us and we will tell you what we hold for your email address.
• Correct it — tell us the right first name or email and we will update it.
• Delete it — ask and we will remove your response and your ratings.
• Stop the emails — use the unsubscribe link in any message we send, or just reply and ask us to stop.

Send any of these requests to support@youinoneyear.com. Because the Check has no accounts, we may ask you to confirm the email address you used so we act on the right record. We will not charge you for a request, and we will not needlessly delay it.

Access to responses is limited to the owner of the business and the systems that need it. The dashboard that shows the full list sits behind a password and an expiring session, the public cannot read responses back out of the database, and payment records can only be written by our payment processor’s confirmation, not by whoever happens to submit a form. No method of storing or transmitting data is completely secure, so we keep our measures proportionate to the information we hold — which is deliberately small.

Our systems are hosted in the United States. If you take the Check from another country, you are agreeing to your information being handled in the United States as described here.

The Check is written for established small business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and leave the new version here on this page. A material change will be announced where you will see it rather than buried in fine print.
